Aussie native Ben Mendelsohn beats GoT actors winning an Emmy
A first-time Emmy and an Australian legend – Mendelsohn deservingly walked away with an Emmy for his role in Bloodline. Winning the title for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series on the Netflix series – this Emmy didn’t come easy.
Mendelsohn is paving the way for Australian actors trying to make a name for themselves in Hollywood. A familiar face in the local screen industry, Ben has appeared in dramas such as the Secret Life of Us and Neighbors. His breakout role came in the critically-acclaimed Australian Film Animal Kingdom in 2010 where Mendelsohn won a number of film awards locally for his exceptional role as a fugitive on the run.
Mendelsohn has since appeared in films such as The Dark Knight Rises and the series Girls where he played Jessa’s dad. His latest role is the form of Director Orson Krennic in the upcoming film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
“If you’re coming over here as an actor and hope to play an American…if you don’t come up with something that’s going to work, they’ll send you home,” he explained. Unfortunately, Bloodline fans will be seeing Mendelsohn for the last time in the third season as Netflix recently announced that the show will be cancelled after its third season which is set to debut in 2017.
